What is EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy that helps people heal from the emotional pain of difficult or traumatic life experiences. It works by using something called bilateral stimulation in the form of eye movements, tapping, or sounds to help the brain process and release stuck memories or beliefs.

Think of it like this: just as your body knows how to heal from a physical wound, your brain also knows how to heal from emotional ones. But sometimes, when we go through something overwhelming, disturbing, difficult, or traumatic that healing process can get blocked. EMDR helps clear that block so your mind can do what it naturally knows how to do—heal.

In EMDR sessions, I’ll guide you through a structured process that helps bring those stuck memories or beliefs to the surface, process them in a safe and manageable way, and help you move forward with less emotional intensity and more clarity.
